Making Law

Honoré-Victorin Daumier (French: 1808 – 1879) was a French printmaker, caricaturist, painter, and sculptor, whose many works offer commentary on social and political life in France in the 19th century. I was inspired by Daumier to create a series of prints I call MAKING LAW. A modern day take on lawyers, courts and the justice system. In Canada lawyers wear robes. In the USA judges wear robes. But the robes are an iconic statement. Everybody gets it. While I am in court waiting - and there is a lot of waiting - I draw tiny little vignettes. Later, we make larger prints which I then paint. And print again. I print with a Master printer. They all look like original watercolors. At a fraction of the price.
