Chilkoot Trail
The Chilkoot trail was such an important part of the gold rush in the Canadian Northwest. By today's standards with all our modern equipment, it is a short but very steep trail with every possible terrain.... deep forest, swamps, glaciers and rocky outcrops. I found it almost impossible to imagine how the gold diggers managed to climb the near vertical pass with a;ll their gear and the women in dresses. There are many grizzly bear in the area as well as mountain goat and dall sheep.
I found the area to be very alive energetically, with many nature spirits dancing about in the sunbeams or deep within the magic of the forest.
