LIFTING

LIFTING LIFTING is about the beauty and power of culture and human determination. It is a response to the Scottish Highland Games, in particular the heavyweight events where the sense of struggle, personal endurance, showmanship and cultural identity amongst the competitors. The sense of struggle present in each image became a representative of all modern personal and social struggles. Aesthetically, the show is influenced by the work of Michelangelo for the Sistine Chapel and the colours of the Scottish landscape. LIFTING indicates motion and mobility within a state of affairs.
