TOPO
The TOPO series is a development of realistic depiction in my paintings, instead I have concentrated on how light falls on a subject. My work often remains formless; I do not want to carry any political charge in my subject matter, rather offer the spectator a reflection on their own perception, the formlessness allows me to connect with the viewer’s universal knowledge. With these paintings I needed a figurative subject; I chose scenes in nature and reduced their forms to the quintessential image of the subject. Each scene is fictitious, made of memories from films, books, photography and popular culture, through reducing these into their essential form, a connection can be made within the viewer.
