Pathos Series

“Pathos” is one of the techniques of the persuasive science of rhetoric. The purpose of pathos is to put the audience into a certain frame of mind. To be able to arouse true empathy, the subject must convey genuine emotion. This is what cuts through the overlay of hype and symbolism to resonate in ourselves, allowing us to identify on a personal level with the subject. My work is based on the idea of community and how the media’s notion of community is affecting us through the images presented to us. Exploring the idea that media has more to do with how we build relationships in large social groups than we are commonly aware.
