Bodies in Space
In Bodies in Space series, I work with each dancer on a different theme. In Sabine, grass and sand traces from a surrounding beach act as something growing inside the dancer while she unnaturally twists the body to resist. In Arturo, I asked the dancer to improvise on feelings of oppression while leaning against a wall in Brooklyn. A playful dance with a knotted tree evoked a desire for togetherness in Licia. Surrounded by fallen leaves, the dancer in Giorgia explores lightness to oppose gravity.
