Fracture
When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold. They believe when something’s damaged and has a history it becomes more beautiful.
In this series I am exploring the idea that being in a state of fracture is one of the most beautiful aspects of the human condition, and is a vital channel through which light enters. Light removes ignorance, encourages life and growth, and brings comfort.
These cracks are meant to cultivate an unbreakable strength, and a relentlessly uncompromising soul. For there are not random lives or events, nor are there events or people that exist by and for themselves, in isolation.
