The art of snails
Spiders and tiny snails live in my winter garden. On the way from leaf to leaf, the snails often take shortcuts over spider webs. There they leave traces of slime that glisten in bright colors in the sunlight. Just like soap bubbles, the colors are created by interference. Light waves that are reflected on the front and back of the thin layer are superimposed. Depending on the inclination and wavelength (color), two reflected waves can cancel or reinforce each other. The colors that have not been deleted are superimposed on the visible mixed colors.
