Green, Gray & Turquoise Cyanotypes
No paint was added to these originals. Cyan means "blue" in Greek, and while the usual color of a cyanotype is bIue, these experimental cyanotypes used alternate photo chemical recipes or multiple layers to achieve new colors. The paler mint green shade and gray prints were made by altering the ratio of two photo chemicals before applying it to the paper and before exposure to light. The multi-color blue-yellow- green prints started as blue prints, were then "toned" (bleached) yellow, recoated with light-sensitive chemicals, and a second blue print was exposed on top of the first yellow print.
