The Art of History

The Art of History. The paintings in this collection take as their starting point images made in museums around the world of historical objects and figures in art history. These paintings are meant to investigate the connections between the past and the present by examining our endurance, appreciation and understanding of the past through the objects that have been preserved in museums and elsewhere. Through a contemporary re-interpretation of these artifacts, now metaphorically rescued from oblivion, I sought to re-contextualize, re-examine, and re-invent a link to past cultures and societies.
