The girl I left behind

“The girl I left behind” is a series of six photos b/w photos, taken in 1999.The photoshooting is done with a manual camera and b/w film.The subject represents an exploration of the young body and gender identity, within the social and cultural context of the '90s.The digital prints make a connection between the past and the present, and a statement of the endless complacency and self-adoration of youth. Unlike today, when digital technologies and social media allow easy manipulation and distortion of images, my photographs are a realistic and authentic representation of beauty and sexuality, which all women have to fight for, to defend and celebrate, in a society that imposes unrealistic and fake standards.
