The Otherness of Beauty
There is an otherness to beauty. It defies the symmetry that we see in classical art. Beauty doesn't have to look like it's portrayed in the movies. Skin doesn't have to be flawless and bodies don't have to be perfectly toned.
It is to this 'otherness' that I am drawn..
Whether it is Cindy Sherman or Andy Warhol, both of whom, saw the 'self' as a 'construct' and portrayed themselves as such or Edward Munch who captured the inner emotional life of his subjects, the artist has it within her to direct the viewer's eye to see beyond the physical and embrace a different kind of beauty.
This collection celebrates the otherness of beauty.
