Weather Works
Part of a series of contemporary, abstract landscape paintings created during my visit to Boolakeel Cove - situated in the Iveragh Peninsula on the wild Atlantic coast of Ireland. Inspired by it's dark and atmospheric winter scenery that prevails during the winter months, with huge waves crashing onto the dark, barren, rugged, rocky cliffs with its' ever changing magical silver light reflecting on the land. Combining indigenous found material with non-conventional mediums like bitumen, slate dust, soot, peat ash, inks, tempera and graphite to paint with in order to reflect the colours of the location with its raw, unspoilt, natural beauty.
