A flock of Hawks are called a 'cast' and what more noble bird could I hope to capture on my panel than the fiercely fighting and peaceful soaring hawk? This contrast in behavior bodes well with the contrast in Realism and Abstraction. I love contrast.

Indigenous people, animals and plants are all striving to not become extinct in a world where the politics that govern ourselves and the planet become less and less transparent.
I look to nature for guidance and a sense of well being.

The basic process for works in this series begins with a photograph I take or research onlie of birds that live in the forests and reservoirs in my area. To this is added transparent watercolor backgrounds and detail work with graphite and color pencils. Applying stenciled patterns with screens, rollers and lace adds interest and an abstract dimension. The rich texture of the trees, as with the Splintered Wisdom Series, are created with collaged bits of images of bark and litter that I clean up off of scenic highways. This serves as a gentle reminder that if we do not stop trashing the planet, trees and wildlife will not grow from our garbage in the future.

This series synthesizes many of my favorite techniques and applications I have picked up as an Artist from drawing realism to lose watercolor painting and beyond.

These works are mounted on wood panels and finished with two coats of archival satin varnish. This natural, yet contemporary presentation requires no glass or framing. All works are Ready-to-Hang.

This piece is the Right Panel of a Diptych.
It may be purchased individually or both panels together.
Each panel is 36H X24W.

Linda Klein, a nature-loving artist hailing from the Bay Area, California, embarks on a soulful journey that harmonizes realism and abstract expression. Unveiling her artistic flair in preschool, Linda's earliest creative adventures prompted her parents to enroll her in local art classes—a bid to save their home from toddler graffiti and nurture her burgeoning talent. Nestled in the wild beauty of West Marin since 2009, Linda draws inspiration from her surroundings. Her artistic evolution mirrors the diverse landscapes she calls home—ranging from detailed graphite drawings to vibrant, ecologically themed pieces infused with recycled collage elements. Linda's unique process involves mounting watercolor paper onto handcrafted wood panels which are often created by her equally talented woodworking husband. This technique imposes a modern eco-conscious approach that bypasses traditional framing. Linda's art is a personal reflection, resonating with the rhythms of nature. With an unwavering commitment to continuing her creative education and a dance between documentation and new realities, Linda Klein's journey is a deeply personal ode to the beauty of our planet.
