About The Artwork

Atlas was condemned by the gods to "carry the sky for an eternity". Not sure who the gods were or why they'd want him to do so and most significantly how they expected him to carry something forever that most people can't even hold for a second. Donovan has that sweet song wherein he demures somewhat dejectedly, :I may as well try to catch the wind..." Sniff. Im more optomistic in general. I refer often to what Camus writes about another mythic figger who was condemned to eternally push a giant boulder uphill. Camus advises, We must imagine Sisyphus happy. That's profound right? Sisyphus wants to push his rock; he accepts and rallies under the weight of his fate. Personally I'd rather be burdened with toting sky ad nauseum but different strokes for different folks.
