Had-cut book pages on cardboard.

One can say that phrases and texts are nothing more than a puzzle of words and letters diversely connected (with infinite possibilities) in order to create meaning.

Following this idea, I used 168 individually hand cut squares (representing words) that together create a new text/meaning: a mandala. The name of the work comes from the title of the book used as material: "Desirée" by Annemarie Selinko.

This artwork was part of the “TEXT” exposition, hold by “Clube de Colagem de Curitiba” in Brazil. (December 2016).

The artwork is framed with wood (black) + glass.

My current work explores intricate geometric images that originates from unpretentious and playful movements of simple shapes, using - among other techniques - layering and repetition to achieve an original outcome. On doing so, I wish to show that both concepts of simplicity and complexity can coexist, contradicting and completing each other at the same time. Planning my design digitally, and then hand-cutting it on paper, also complement the idea of contrast, using new and high-tech hardware with simple and low-tech blades and paper.
