About The Artwork
Its a bag. Cutting up the past, piecing together the future. Destroying existing paintings and drawings, only to piece them back together in order to make a new final statement. The parts make up a whole and have a dialog amongst themselves. They chose their placement, speaking to me. I had to be very attune to listening which required me to let go of who I thought I was as an artist. I had to let go of my past in order to forge a new beggining. Though the past is important, the challenge was knowing what about it that was useful and choosing to see it in a new light, a new perspective.
