Fake Over Care (I) Collage

As part of my London Project I got onto the subject of power within the city and how we are constantly being controlled. There are so many signs and instructions everywhere telling us what to do and we don't even think about it. The concept It reminded me of 1984 and the newspeak, so I decided to create a series of my own words put together on canvas which don't necessarily make sense but also do in a strange way. I was inspired to cross out the words because of Basquiats clever theory that when he crossed the words out they became more important in their absence. My project was also influenced by Christopher Wool, Jenny Holzer and Barbara Kruger.
