In 1962 Antonio Saporito made a significant encounter with the great Lucio Fontana. In this period in fontana's atelier one could admire works like Metalli (metals), ripped brass and steel sheets. These meetings with Lucio Fontana and the fact of meditating over this master's work, deeply helped the development of artistic research of Antonio Saporito. His artworks are created with the matter of cold steel, over which the supply of colored enamels and the overlapping of geometric plates and fragments enact a visual narrative of austere beauty. These works express an abstraction only apparently immediate, and they partly correspond to the guidelines of Constructivism. Geometric with mirror is a visual experimentation marked by a strictness, which apparently does not leave place for imagination, but in reality it expresses emotions and thoughts that become signs and matter. The reference to Euclidean geometry is here re-elaborated in an imaginative and even playful way. In this blue and red painting he developed an extremely rigorous abstractionism marked by a vibrant chromaticism, with an incisive style.

Contemporary italian artist Antonio Saporito, live in Turin, Italy. His artistic training is influenced by the modern and contemporary figurative art of the 60s by and the masters of Italian Arte Povera. The meeting with Lucio Fontana was particularly significant. The reflection on his work, particularly mark the development of the artistic research of Antonio Saporito. THE GEOMETRIC SPATIALISM The geometric spatialism is the Saporito's original research. Strongly anchored to material, this one, cut, shaped and perforated with surgical and geometric rigor, represents the synthesis of Saporito's art. Steel, aluminum, copper and lead are wisely transformed into labyrinths of carved signs to reveal the beyond there is behind the material. The rigor and the essence that characterize his works become elements to transcend reality, to look and scan what exists behind the appearance, in the continuous search of the unknowable, of the future, of the unreachable mystery of man.
