About The Artwork
I look for wood to paint on everywhere. Floor boards, barn boards, attic boards and in this case bread boards. This is a study. An exercise I do to keep my collage practice up. Although this is a study it still follows my basic rules for working with collage. It must act like paint. It must use pattern to define form, and it should function as hidden message or metaphor. When I paint on old wood, I try to use the texture. It can add a nice quality to the paint that I can't find with any other medium or surface. I'm attracted to the worn and used and the way it reveals the past through tone & texture.
