Franz Leinfelder (born in 1941 in Solingen) creates a form of art, consisting of objects, sculptures, and pictures, that uses a unique combination of materials, color, and form, to immediately draw the attention of passersby. An unrelenting curiosity and desire to experiment complemented the more mechanical craftsmanship of his art. Trips throughout Africa, Europe, and the USA heavily influenced his artistic direction. For over 40 years, Franz has devoted himself to his art and to the betterment of his creations. For Franz, every material is considered a possible piece art. Old and new, technical or naturally occurring, everyday or exceptional; he draws inspiration from the universe of objects that inform individual pieces of art or entire artistic sequences. As such, heterogeneous items become unified sculptures, relief collages, and material pictures. His art is created at times according to a plan, at times spontaneously. It can be feisty, humorous, thoughtful, and aims to invoke memory and free association.
