Hand cut paper collage and oil paint mounted on a re-used book board. This work explores the continued mysterious relationship with animals that persists in modern urban societies. The puritanical, misogynistic myth of the medusa still speaks volumes about how we view animals and sexuality. This week I have reused a frame I bought at auction, using only existing materials fulfils my commitment to maintaining as little impact on the environment as I can whilst making work.

I make work about the division, opposition and collusion between animals and humans. Oil painting, drawing, assemblage, collage and the re-use of materials and objects are central to my work. Painting selected for the 171 RWA Open exhibition 2024, I won the Ovalhouse prize at Chelsea College of Art, and Gloucester University prize at the Open West. I was on the committee of the Newlyn Society of Artists for 6 years. I have exhibited in Berlin and Baku, Zdonov in the Czech Republic, London, Exeter and Birmingham and I am represented by Daisy Laing, Penzance. My work is in private collections in Hong Kong, USA, France, Italy, Germany and the UK.
