Born in 1979 Lives and works in Istanbul Gökşen Parlatan is a visual artist based in Istanbul, Turkey. She works in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, and sculpture, to explore themes of identity, memory, and the human experience. Her work is often characterized by its bold colors, expressive brushstrokes, and figurative imagery. In her artist statement, Parlatan writes: "My work is about exploring the human condition and the complex ways in which we experience the world around us. I am interested in the intersection of memory, identity, and the unconscious. I believe that art can be a powerful tool for self-reflection and understanding." "As an artist I like working with different techniques, materials, mediums and dicovering new areas for much more possibilities. So I make art in different styles and always improving my techniques as much as my abilities can go. Abstract paintings, clay animals, calligraphic works, funky mosaics are showing some playful side of me. I like giving some joy and colour to the artwork so everyone can get a pinch of it I hope."
