About The Artwork

In my work as a psychotherapist, I have had clients with diseases, which has meant, that they have been signed up for a new organ. This has in some brought many ethical and moral considerations such as: who decides over the body of the deceased, the deceased themselves, their families or the state, who is the donor, how is the person dead, what about the donor's relatives, how will it be to have a vital foreign body in ones own body, is it to go against the natural order, there will be bad conscience, how is it to live to be on a waiting list, perhaps for several years etc. It is in this context that I made this collage. I had it on a show where I got many good reflections from children, young people and the elderly. I saw that it was the young people, who were most serene regarding themselves to be donors, many had already signed up donorregister. I hope that this collage will help the viewer becomes clearer. The collage is framed by a professional glazier. The frame is made by wood.

I was born in Aarhus - Denmark’s second largest town. I grew up in Fredericia – a town that dates back to about 1650. Fredericia is surrounded by ramparts and has a fantastic nature including wooded countryside and waters. I inherited some very essential values from my parents: respect for others irrespective of their situation, brotherhood – we are nothing alone but only through the interaction with others, humor, laughter, literature, music, philosophical and political discussions and last but not least hard work. My father was a great example to me in my life. I have tried to pass these values on to my own 3 kids. I have been politically active without being a member of a political party, fought for women’s rights and worked for a better environment. Since my childhood I have felt it natural to express myself artistically through writing, dance, cabaret, body and painting. My art is expressive and experimental, and I like colours. The motives pop up through the inspiration I get from the great diversities of life, which I have to transform into various expressions. I rarely have an idea when I start painting. The motives emerge, when the colours are painted, stroked, sprayed or stained on the canvas, as I listen to music. I work with oil/acrylic on canvas, collages, installations, newspapers, magazines, fabric, cans, cellophane, tusch and recycled material. Artistic inspiration: I have always been fascinated by Frida Kahlo, the COBRA artists Jorgen Nash and Asger Jorn, and Lis Zwick. I get inspiration from travels, clouds, art exhibitions, people and history. I am attached to a gallery where my works have been displayed for four years. Apart from my art, I work as a psychotherapist in private practice.
