This pieces was part of a series tilted "Old Stories" that conveys the stories in my family that have been passed down through the generations. This large scale collage uses old Sears Roebuck catalogs from the early 1900's and handmade black fiber paper hand-cut into triangular pieces. The repetition of pattern creates a strong op-art effect that is resemblant of tears or a search light pattern. This piece was inspired by my Great-Grandfather William Blackwell who helped lay the Shell Oil pipeline from Oklahoma City to Illinois in the early 1900's. The Sears Roebuck catalog documents the clothing items and tools that were used at that time. This piece is currently on display at the Phoenix Airport Museum until October 2017, in the "Drawn to Pattern" exhibition.
