About The Artwork

"Placer literario" belongs to an analog collage series called SUBJECT WOMAN. It is made using recycled papers from fashion magazines and newspapers, and it claims women as main characters of their own life and as complex and independent beings. Since usually in fashion magazines women are used as secondary characters, whose importance is just based on their physical appearance, I love recycling images from these fashion magazines and using them in artworks that empower women and highlight their role as main characters. Most times, when making a collage, I use figures and colours that combined give me a pleasant feeling, but it is once the collage is finished that its meaning comes up to me. It was this way how I realized the importance feminism has not only in my life, but also in my creative process.
