Sire Collage

This is a piece inspired by a poem by W.S. Merwin (my favorite poet): Sire Here comes the shadow not looking where it is going, And the whole night will fall; it is time Here comes the little wind which the hour Drags with it everywhere like an empty wagon through leaves. Here comes my ignorance shuffling after them Asking them what they are doing ... Standing still, I can hear my footsteps Come up behind me and go on... This is a collage made with a photograph printed on Japanese silk tissue and combined with encaustic (bees wax and tree resin) I have mounted it on wood panel. The man's image on the left is mounted on a piece of wood and is raised as is the element below with the foot prints. This gives it a three dimension that evokes a deep space and feeling of quiet.
