About The Artwork

This artwork is one out of a 4 part series, depicting mystical/ fluid landscapes. The idea was to transcend all physical boundaries & transport my audience to a world of imagination, evoking a state of the sub - conscious mind, such as in a dream.. The ideas of creating collages is very exciting to me as seemingly ordinary materials can completely transform when juxtaposed together! The colour palette used is very soft & subtle with chalk pastels. It's one of my favourite mediums, since I started my journey in art with this medium on paper. I love the feel of the chalk on paper & after the fixative is used, the transition is amazing .. one can't guess what elements get highlighted.. something similar happened while making this piece. It just transformed on its own, from concept to the final stage. The use of silver is to create a sheen to the overall subtle palette. This artwork is framed & mounted with glass & ready to hang.

I am a visual artist/ architect, in Singapore and originally from New Delhi (India). I have my art studios in both locations & I'm participating in exhibitions world wide. My mixed media works are made on canvas, paper, textile boards, wood, MDF panels. I work with various mediums such as pastels, fluid acrylics, water colours, gouache using techniques such as drawing, cyanotypes, collage, painting. I enjoy participating at art workshops to learn new techniques. and have completed 2 part time art courses at The Lasalle college of arts , Singapore. Nature & my travels keep me motivated & inspired. Long walks in the lush national parks in Singapore help me to connect with my inner thoughts & give me more clarity in my artistic vision. Reiki Mediation is a part of my daily routine which also helps me to focus. My themes are usually centred around the balance between nature & man, depicting fantastical settings & beings. My colour palette is usually bright & I'm the happiest to use my favourite medium chalk pastels. I constantly try to evolve my creative process, as I find it thrilling to experiment with new styles. Bold images with a subtle context is my preferred choice of depiction. Having studied & practiced architecture, I'm greatly influenced by my surroundings, such as buildings, landscapes & I enjoy observing the balance with which city layouts are planned. I believe in the current times of climate change, nature must be nourished to thrive as mankind needs the solace & comfort from Mother Nature more than ever. I have recently launched a coffee table art book titled " Unmasking the Spiritual Self" at the Singapore National Library . The book features 129 of my over 300 artworks , divided into 7 genres of human emotions depicting spiritual transition. I'm also pursuing a climate change fellowship program with an arts organisation based in UK. This project has enhanced my learning about environmental issues.
