Winter's Day Collage

By cutting highly sensitive personal documents into unreadable shreds, I am able to remove traces of myself from the world. This information that coheres to represent me -- such as birth date, social security number, banking and other financial data is rendered mute. Through their destruction, these documents become the raw material of my art. I re-organize and categorize the strips into patterns, shapes and designs. In building my art, I make order out of chaos, transform the private into the public, and make sense out of what might otherwise seem random. This process, to me, is similar to how we edit and navigate our lives. This Shredded Paper Painting does not need to be framed it was executed on a Cradled Panel which is .75 inches deep with a hanging wire attached on the back
