Paul was born in London and currently lives in North Wales His artistic influences are eclectic and include artists as diverse as Hieronymus Bosch, Anselm Kiefer, Matisse and Damien Hirst. His work has graduated from oil on canvas to entirely digital painting. “I love the immediacy of the digital rather than the slow burn of oil paint. The digital age merits a medium that echoes its fast paced and immediate nature.” He graduated with a B.A. Honours degree in Fine Art from Newcastle upon Tyne University. Prior to this Paul completed a year of painting specialization under the tutelage of Ian MacIntosh formerly of the Slade School of Art. Paul is inspired by the juxtaposition of nature, the modern world, and technology. By definition, modern art uses new imagery, materials and techniques to create artworks that better reflect the realities and hopes of modern societies. These beautiful abstract paintings are created entirely by modern digital processes. They reflect our new world of the internet, the mobile phone and the digital experience that we are all a part of. Their main themes also deal with our ambivalent connection with this virtual world and the real physical world. Technology joins us together as never before, and in doing so also exposes the ways in which our ideas and identities do not simply belong to us, but are part of a larger human ebb and flow. This work is inspired by this constantly changing world and the paintings mirror this discordance with their colliding forms and strongly contrasting colours.
