About The Artwork

Meet "Aurelia," a vision where the art of leather and the finesse of lace converge. Each curve and contour is a silent verse of Aurelia's saga—a tale of undying strength wrapped in elegance. The deep, earthy leather hues speak of her steadfast spirit, while the vivid red-orange whispers of her inner fire. Aurelia was once a mere mortal, her spirit as vibrant as the sun, her determination as unyielding as the earth. Yet, she yearned for a form that mirrored the complexity and depth of her inner self. In a moment of serendipity, she encountered an artisan, a master of leather and lace, who saw the universe of possibilities within her. The artisan worked tirelessly, forging a garment and a second skin to capture Aurelia's fiery spirit and gentle grace. Every piece of leather was cut with precision, each lace thread woven with care, creating a symphony of swirling patterns that danced across her form like a visual echo of her soul. Crafted with meticulous attention, this garment is more than a visual delight; it reflects her soul's intricate journey. Aurelia's poised stillness is a powerful expression of the resilience and fervor that we all carry within. In her, we see the artful dance of life's trials and triumphs, permanently captured in the timelessness of her form.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I derive inspiration from my empathy for humanity and an insatiable desire to explore the world's beauty and cultural complexity. I was born in 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State, where I took classes ranging from abnormal psychology to existentialism in order to broaden my creative mind. My extensive travels have enriched my perspective and significantly influenced my work. With my husband, Jeff, I have designed and built Tanglewild Gardens, a renowned botanical garden that doubles as our home and sanctuary in Austin, Texas. My career has spanned various fields including fine art, design, publishing, fashion, and technology, where I have had the privilege of leading global creative teams. My artwork, which has received international recognition, has been featured in prestigious publications and exhibitions and is collected by individuals worldwide. My art is a deeply personal and evocative blend of traditional and digital methods, incorporating AI as a collaborative tool. It delves into themes such as cultural diversity, injustice, and surrealism. As a gay man who has faced discrimination and lost many friends to AIDS, my work is imbued with profound empathy and a universally powerful impact. This combination of human emotion and innovative technique makes my art uniquely resonant. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my work with a global audience and to be part of such a diverse and impressive group of artists. If you find my work inspiring, I would be honored if you chose to follow me and stay updated on my latest projects. Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my creations.
