About The Artwork

Choke (of a person or animal) could mean to have severe difficulty in breathing because of a constricted or obstructed throat or a lack of air. If you choke, or if something chokes you, you stop breathing because something is blocking your throat. In horticulture the meaning is very similar: to prevent a plant from growing by depriving it of light, air, or nourishment. Flowers obsession? Sex-addiction? Consumerism? Milan air pollution? Public spaces? Retail spaces? Am I asking or performing the Heimlich manoeuvre as a Palahniuk anti-hero? Incorporating letters, of Spencerian script memory the "C" is an homage to Warhol use of the Paramount logo as symbolic personal language.

Romeo Madonna (London, 1987) is a collage artist based in Florence where he currently lives and works. A self-taught visual artist, collage - both digital and analog - represents his favorite means of expression, the investigative method of his research and the synthesis of the philosophy underlying his artistic practice. A film student at the Roma Tre University with the aim of becoming a screenwriter, he attended the Accademia di Belle Arti because he was obsessed with engraving and printing techniques. His professional experiences in the field of mixology and luxury retail contributed significantly to defining the traits and themes of his artistic identity, fusing a digital approach with traditional techniques. Visions of time, beauty, identity and death are recurring themes in his works.
