Los Angeles based artist, James Frost, creates works of magical realism focusing on portraits, animals, and abstracts. James prefers to work with oils in the classical fat-over-lean style made popular by 15th century artists. The eternal and dynamic qualities of time and space, the terrifying oceans, and peaceful mystery of forests are strong inspirations for him. As an emerging artist in 2023, James continues to advance his craft, venturing into new realms though using classical techniques. His storytelling ability through painting can be described as literal and genuine, and much can be interpreted from his unique designs. His subjects are usually solitary and bold, leading the viewer on an unexpected journey.
