About The Artwork

My digital matted poster version of my 2024 acrylic original, Hugging the Edge of Hope, for me, carries the hope of peacefulness, plus - up close - the excitement of unexpected textures and color juxtapositions! If you prefer the 1st effect, like the calling calmness of distance, I'd recommend a smaller print. But if you'd prefer both options, peacefulness and excitement, I'd definitely suggest larger - Much larger! The detail of both the softer passages and the more textured contrasting tones would be more apparent and worth exploring up close 😊 I wish to say both types of color-textured passages were from my skillful controlled hand; but truthfully the biggest thing I try to control, is the degree I can let myself into the creative flow I'm feeling as I work. It's afterwards I can study what's appeared on canvas, and then intervene, tinkering with the work, to more or less degrees. My picture is then the total snapshot of that process.

032624 update - My wife and I are blessed to have found a new address here in Austin that'll keep us close to our youngest grandchild as the start of middle school begins later this year in August. The next month will be a full time of sorting and relocating, so in the interim, I'll concentrate on uploading new selections of recent paintings plus some photos from our visit to Vermont late last year πŸ™ Below is my original profile info; thanks so much for visiting! πŸ™β€οΈ About me Now 73 years ago, and first remembering painting in 2nd grade at Memorial Elementary in Houston, it's time for me to organize my work, and maybe reveal to myself what it is I've been so content to have worked at creating all these decades. Thus my goal here at Saatchi Arts is as much to reveal myself to myself, as to hopefully, coherently, introduce myself to you ☺️
