About The Artwork
This piece was inspired by Colby's mother. She grew up on a chicken hatchery and openly speaks her mind often on how the chicken industry has changed sixty years ago to present day. Seeing how social media exposer have shifted the care in the birds for personal satisfaction imagery without considering the birds health and care required. Then seeing the corporate hatchery farms disconnect in care for birds to maximize profits. Colby reflected on his mothers viewpoints and came up with this artwork concept. Imagine being in the year 3000 where there is no open fields, no country space available for animals to free range and everything is covered in buildings. The world has become one big city. Animals such as the common chicken have been transformed into robotic features to survive the concrete landscape fortifications, the harsh environment factors and to be managed without human interaction by AI robotic systems until the chicken is needed for harvest or eggs. Viewers should have mixed feelings towards this conversational artwork piece. Such as reality perspectives, constructive fantasy ideas, abstract imaginative thinking and awareness of disconnect from life beyond humans.
