Ahad Ha'am Drawing

This work was made especially for a museum exhibition concerning old / new design of apartment buildings in the city. I was following a building site near my home for inspiration, and made a lot of drawings/paintings. The image relates to an old iconic photo, "The Ink Flag" from 1949. In the new image, soldiers raising a flag were replaced by a group of (mostly foreign) construction workers. The work is in fact 3-dimensional somewhat, as it is engraved or etched with sharp tools onto a plastic-covered wood surface. It was hard to make, but rewarding. "Ahad Ha'am" is the name of the building project and the street, it is a pen name for a famous essayist in Jewish history, and translates "One of the People", a common man.
