About The Artwork
The charreada is a traditional Mexican cultural event recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. I am lucky to be able to attend numerous charreadas because I live on the Texas border and enjoy the hospitality of our neighbors sharing this sports festival. I draw not only the activities called suertes, but special moments that are lived in the arena, highlighting the social implications that I observe among the competitors, the family, the public and the workers. 140 lb.
