About The Artwork

'BODYlikable 2' is 50x70 cm, colored pencils on paper + collage elements, 2021. Last year (2021) Agata Rek and I, paid attention to the progressive social problem, so-called, body shaming, and the lack of body acceptance, among people around us and in social media as well. That inspired us to take an action and create SOCIAL PROJECT called CIAŁOlube (BODYlikeable) featuring selected artists, who differ from one to another, but the common passion is what they share. The goal of the campaign was to provoke the discussion and to sensitize people to critical body attitude, which leads to shaping positive society habits. We do believe that this problem is extremely important and our intention was to achieve positive tone of the campaign that presents benefits from being kind and gentle, not only to ourselves, but mainly to others.

Agata Wierzbicka is a Poland-born visual artist, who lives and works in Warsaw. She uses mixed media technique to create figurative collage drawings characterized by minimalist composition, restricted in elements and colours. In her works, Wierzbicka depicts humans and their emotions expressed by body and movement. She underlines the unknown context and character to crystallize the inner feelings representing outer relations. When it comes to technique she experiments with texture, using different media, as well as with layers of different color paper, to transfer the flat drawing into a more complex representation of the depicted subject.
