Chimpanzee Portrait Drawing

The drawing is part of a corpus of works in which the artist uses a particular drawing technique which aims to make us reflect on the persistence of the image, in its formal and conceptual meaning. The subject of the artwork is a chimpanzee, the animal with the DNA most similar to humans in nature, which as such can represent a primordial version of us, in complete contact and balance with the natural environment. The figure looks at the viewer with an intense, almost human gaze and seems to be observing him to try to understand his behavior and thoughts. The subject seems to make its way and reach the viewer through interference (the interference of memory and time). The chimpanzee can represent our original conscience that looks at us from afar, from the depths of ourselves, questioning what we have become and trying to understand the reasons for our actions.
