Death and Fish Drawing

There is a stillness in the movement of the woman and her death. But there is movement outside the still waters in the sky, and with the big fish by her head. A couple symbols, the tombstone and the flower suggest both death and renewal. About the process: with thin black pen the lines of the drawings are worked between a back and forth movement which creates tension within the drawing and a simpler thicker line to balance out the composition of blacks and whites within the paper. From shading to creating shapes, sometimes the drawing starts by the shape and then gets volume by additional shading and sometimes the shading leads to the outer lines of the drawing. Each element is thought through a study of symbols and also led through an intuitive thread.
