This Untitled drawing incorporates my ongoing obsessive drawing of the mixed objects surrounding me. Pokemon appear´s here because of the absolute epidemic of this game in 2017. I also was inspired by ancient Russian embroideries with flowers. I united all this with an infinite fractal.

About The Artwork

Mandalas have always been part of my painting. But for me the real mandalas of our lives - are distorted. Nobody is born as a clean slate. Nobody has an obsessively perfect life. Life is like a painting - with crooked lines, distorted moments, pleasant, unpleasant... with people we may or may not like. This Untitled drawing incorporates my ongoing obsessive drawing of the mixed objects surrounding me. When not long ago our society was perplexed by the Pokémon go game. Pokemon appear´s here because of the absolute epidemic of this game in 2017. I wanted to make it part of my painting. I also was inspired by ancient Russian embroideries with flowers. I united all this with an infinite fractal. Because in fact people were experiencing that game as part of their lives. Signed on the back and in front.

Vera Fonseka is an artist based in Portugal whose paintings have been widely exhibited nationally. She describes her works as conveying the paradoxical existence between the scrupulous intricacy of the details and the brutality of iconography. Fonseka's artistic process is marked by her use of mixed techniques with adhesives, fabrics, acrylics, and oils on canvas. She was born in 1982 in Tallinn (ex URSS, actually Estonia) in an actors-family. In 2003 Vera moved to Portugal where she's been living since then. Inspired by Kandinsky, Frank Stella, Beatriz Milhazes and Alexandra Mir, Vera Fonseka tries to make conceptual contribution in Contemporary Art. Artist Statement: « Inspired by the disorder of the present time. »
