About The Artwork

This painting is a philosophical tractate on the duality of the world and human nature. The very principle of dualism lies in the assertion that at the heart of everything that is in this world are two opposing principles. Life itself is a struggle of opposites. Yin and Yang, black and white, woman and man, heaven and earth, us and them. But our world, our existence is so tremendous and deep that everything is mixed in one tightly twisted roll of opposites and similarities, and thus it is interesting. Duality gives volume to all events, just as light and shadow make an object volumetric. The figures in the painting "Struggle" are not accidentally depicted as faceless and without-skin like. They are naked and are in their original metaphysical state, it is difficult to define whether they are women or men, these are people as they are, real, without unnecessary details and labels. And the main question of this work - if everything is opposite, but still one cannot live without the other, is it wrestling or is it an embrace? My art is best described as “mystical realism”. Themes of untouched nature and precious moment of timelessness can be witnessed in my art throughout my creative career. I combine decorativeness and graphicity with transparent painting to make my works full of lightness and air. The use of different textures in one picture - gold, oil and an uncoated canvas make each work an almost tangible experience, inviting to plunge into its mystical space. An open composition immerses the viewer in a state of ringing silence and comprehensive peace, inviting into otherworldly, unsteady state, distance yourself away from reality and enjoy a moment outside of time.
