Somewhere between 90-100 hours work. Madness. A3 sized (29.7 x 42 cms). All in pencil on Bristol Board (turned sepia in photoshop). The model for this was the lovely American artist, Odessa Sawyer. I am primarily known for my detailed pencil drawings, but I also enjoy working in oils. I trained initially as a graphic designer, specialising in illustration. I enjoy literary and mythological themes in my art, venturing also into realms of fantasy, history, gothic themes, ... one thing you will notice, I tend to portray females in my art, but there has been an occasional Oberon or other male heroes sneaking into my body of work. While my work is figurative with a strong element of realism, I'm not a copyist; I like to depart a bit from any references I might use. I can be quite masochistic in capturing detail and painstakingly labouring over building up shading; my artwork tends to take months to complete. I have been known to push myself into completing a work within a week, but that's not comfortable for me. I hope you will enjoy visiting my portfolio. Thank you for stopping by.
