About The Artwork
This mother and baby sloth is part of the endangered wild animals series. I wanted to portray an emotional portrait which captures the character of the animals. It is my intention to bring a calmness to the viewer as well as an awareness to the speed of life. Soft pastels enable me to give a sense of motion as well creating a vibrant portrait that is full of interesting mark making. I always try to find a balance between realism, emotion and colour saturation.
