'Lockdown 2020' Drawing

'Lockdown 2020' is professionally framed with non-reflective gallery glass. The drawing is inspired by the Rudbeckia flowers I had grown from seed and had watched grow in our small garden. There was one show stopper flower that attracted the world around it. I did the drawing from photographic reference, making the flower head bigger than real, layering the pencil to achieve the different tonal qualities, patterns and shapes. I wanted to create a depth of space and inner world, hidden in nature. The drawing was produced at home during the first covid lockdown, and I enjoyed the simplicity of using the same make of pencil (Faber-Castell 'Albrech Durer' Black Pencils) and the rough waterclour paper (Fabriano 300gsm).
