About The Artwork

“Man on Gray” Sepia drawing of a young semi-nude male model in a strange dynamic pose. Gray, concrete colors background, turquoise carpet. This is an original drawing I created from a real model using gouache and sepia pencil. I like sketching. It’s such a joy to follow real live body lines. Nothing could compare! There is something very attractive in quick drawing, you must concentrate yourself and express in very short time all the beauty of nature and your feelings to it. One of the exiting subjects to draw is a human body. I have never seen not attractive naked body. You may disagree, but it is entirely depending on a point of view of looking. Proper light and angle, loving look makes everyone beautiful.

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999. Bachelor's degree in Costume Design; 1990-1995 studies at the Abramtsevo College of Applied Arts and in 1995 obtained a bachelor's degree in stone, bone and wood processing from an artist-master.
