About The Artwork
This piece is drawn on reclaimed 100/100 Fabriano Cotton Rag. The piece underneath is a twenty year old artwork. I chose to paint over the original artwork and reclaim the paper. The image of the undressed woman is evocative of coming into her own. Taking up the space, claiming her beauty and her body. The golden thread that runs around her wrist and in her hair symbolic of finding the gifts and lessons in adversity. In this piece I experimented with the shape of space, patterns, foreground and figure. What the use of monochrome says as opposed to colour portraiture.
