ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a pastel I drew of a nude at a life class. The model was very curvaceous with a beautiful profile . She was a delight to draw. The backcloth is a stunning cobalt blue which offset the contours of her body. I used Henri Roche pastels which are one of the best you can buy. They are made in France and date back to what the French impressionists used. This is one of a series of nude life studies using vibrant colours to offset the female body. The pastel drawing is framed with a white mount and a white wooden frame which makes it look contemporary .

My childhood was spent in Sussex where I developed a love of the rolling hills and country side. After Art college I moved to London where I continued painting. I discovered pastel painting a few years ago which I love for its brilliant pure colours. I found the light and rich colours of the South of France could be caught using using this medium. After visiting New York, where I had an exhibition , I was very interested in the awesome buildings and am currently painting a series of cityscapes of New York and London.Patricia is influenced by the French Impressionists.Working in oils and pastels, producing still lifes, landscapes and nudes of scenes that range from Twickenham to St.Tropez, Patricia's resulting work reflects the vibrant colours and brilliant light of the South of France.Patricia was recently made a member of the Society of Women Artists.
