About The Artwork

Studying nature is the best meditation. Old things are no longer used, but still live on paper, imprinted in pencil. So is an old iron, in which coals were once filled up, and the hostess was eyeing linen with a heavy tool. What did this iron hear and see, does he remember the warmth of the hands holding it ..? The drawing is made with a simple pencil on paper.

"Dasha Horst's art is multi-faceted and organic at the same time. It incorporated the stylistic and worldview developments of the past centuries, developed by human culture, which were vividly perceived by the modern artist and melted them into unique images. The combination of the iconographic principle of space construction with the Renaissance tangible chiaroscuro creates a sense of multidimensional space, adding an element of spiritual, sensually unknowable existence to it. So time here is slow and not real. You can say that the cosmic silence has dissolved into the symbolism of clay bowls, which now hold entire cities. This is a metaphor for the micro and macrocosm. Dasha was born in Skopin, Ryazan region. Since childhood dreamed of becoming an artist or an astronaut. Grew up in the atmosphere of Skopinsky pottery. Such an environment beneficially influenced her cravings in art and instilled a love for the traditions of the ancient craft. Every detail in Dasha’s paintings is exquisitely and subtly worked out as a separate small work. Dasha began her career at the art school of her native city, where she studied traditional ceramics. Continued vocational training in 2005 at the Abramtsevo Art and Industrial College. V.M.Vasnetsova, "Ceramics art" faculty with the famous teacher Galina Yambarsheva. In 2007, she decided to change her creative direction at the same college, but already in the specialty "Fine art" with the talented teacher-innovator Alexander Velichko. During the training, Dasha Horst found those topics that interest and excite her to this day. The main topics of creativity were fantastic cities, memories, the theme of space and celestial bodies, as well as native pottery. “For me, the theme of memories is very important. This is not a departure from reality, but a comprehension of oneself, one's self. We change over time, this is the result of what happened to us, what we experienced. The events of my life have become me. What happened irreversibly enters us, becomes us, whether we want it or not. We also absorb our history, traditions, family life, experience of previous generations, often unconsciously” says Dasha. Some biblical images, perhaps intuitively and under the influence of Old Russian iconography, found their place in the artistic world of the author. For example, the image of a bird with a twig in its beak.
