'Please form an orderly queue' - Q2 Drawing

This piece was created for the Polistopia exhibition at the Mémoire de l'Avenir gallery in Paris. The idea was to represent public and/ or urban spaces, so I created three drawings of queues using only promarkers on paper. The idea is that public spaces are really only defined by two things - the presence of people, and the governing rules that dictate how those people act within that space. That is why I left the backgrounds blank, because public spaces do not have any specific features in and of themselves that separate them from other types of space. Our experience of these places is therefore decided by something much more abstract and cultural.
